Things To Do

Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower, a bold project designed in preparation for the world fair in 1889, was named after the engineer Gustave Eiffel, whose company designed and built it. It is a wrought iron lattice tower on the Champ de Mars, symbolic of France and receiving around 7 million visitors per year.

Arc de Triomphe

The Arc de Triomphe de l’Étoile is a triumphal arch built in honour of those who fought for France, particularly those who fought during the Napoleonic wars. The names of all of the generals and wars fought are engraved at the top of the arch. Completed in 1836, The Arc de Triomphe de l’Étoile was formerly named Place de l’Étoile. It sits in a circular plaza from which 12 grand avenues radiate, forming a star (étoile).
