JOHANNESBURG

Johannesburg is a city that mixes big-city culture, shopping, dining and nightlife with outdoor adventures, wildlife encounters and historical sites. Explore caves and nature reserves or visit a traditional village by day, and enjoy dinner at a hip cafe or five-star restaurant by night. With malls and open-air markets, you’ll find plenty of unique souvenirs.

Johannesburg, affectionately known as Jo’burg, Jozi, and E’Goli, is the financial and industrial metropolis of South Africa, built on a rich gold mining history. The city is rapidly evolving from an edgy safari stopover to a vibrant hub for arts and culture. Contemporary galleries and the Maboneng Precinct, with its funky restaurants, cafes, and art studios, now rank among the city’s top tourist attractions, along with the poignant Apartheid Museum and Constitution Hill. Just outside of the city, explore the UNESCO-listed Cradle of Humankind, a rich paleoanthropological site.
