There is plenty to occupy you in this 2,000-year-old city. The gothic Saint Bartholomeus Cathedral has been destroyed and rebuilt twice since its original construction in the 14th century. View a screening at the German Film Museum, stroll the exhibitions of Frankfurt’s wealth of galleries, or climb to the top of the Main Tower for panoramic 360-degree views of the city. It is a charming city, with half-timbered buildings, huddled in its quaint medieval Altstadt (old town). Cosy cider taverns serve wholesome and hearty regional food, and quaint village-like neighbourhoods are full of outdoor cafes, high-end boutiques, street art and beautiful parks, gardens and riverside paths.
